Si avvicina il più importante appuntamento della stagione cinematografica, ovvero la notte degli Oscar 2020: la 92.ma edizione degli Academy Awards andrà in scena il prossimo 9 febbraio presso il Dolby Theater di Los Angeles per il secondo anno consecutivo senza un conduttore unico (si alterneranno sul palco diverse personalità), e verrà trasmessa dalla ABC. Le nomination sono state annunciate pochi minuti fa da John Cho e Issa Rae.
Le previsioni sono state pienamente rispettate, con The Irishman, Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, 1917, Marriage Story, Joker e Parasite a farla da padroni nelle principali categorie. Purtroppo, viene confermata anche l’assenza di Greta Gerwig, regista di Little Women, tra i papabili vincitori del titolo di Best Director, a riprova del fatto che il movimento Me Too e il risveglio delle coscienze che ne è conseguito hanno sì aperto la strada a un nuovo corso, ma tanto c’è ancora da lavorare per scardinare il monopolio maschile in ogni ambito della società; intanto il collega Martin Scorsese, con la sua nona nomination, rafforza il primato di regista vivente più candidato della storia. Infine, sorprende che né Taron Egerton, né Robert De Niro e né Eddie Murphy compaiano nella categoria Lead Actor nonostante sembrassero nomi pressoché certi: al loro posto, Jonathan Pryce, già candidato al Golden Globe per la sua performance in The Two Popes.
