On The Road To Findout: Greatest Hits ripercorre la carriera di uno dei più grandi artisti contemporanei con brani senza tempo tra cui The First Cut Is The Deepest, Where Do The Children Play?, Wild World, Moonshadow, The Hurt e Father and Son. La raccolta spazia dall’album di debutto del 1967, Matthew & Son, fino all’ultimo progetto del 2023, King Of a Land.
I successi degli anni settanta
Yusuf/Cat Stevens afferma: «Sono felice che, finalmente, una raccolta di registrazioni includa alcune delle canzoni che ho scritto dopo la mia evoluzione, come “Take The World Apart” e “Heaven / Where True Love Goes”, che riflettono la pace e la felicità che da allora mi hanno cambiato la vita. Grazie a tutti. È davvero commovente pensare a quante anime hanno percorso questo viaggio con me».
Cat Stevens conobbe la fama negli anni Sessanta, con hit di successo come Matthew & Son e The First Cut Is The Deepest. La sua carriera fu però interrotta da una battaglia quasi fatale contro la tubercolosi, svolta decisiva che accese la sua ricerca di pace e serenità. Grazie a questa esperienza, divenne rapidamente uno tra i cantautori più prolifici degli anni Settanta, conquistando il mondo con brani come Wild World, Father and Son, Peace Train e Morning Has Broken. I suoi album Mona Bone Jakon, Tea For The Tillerman e Teaser and The Firecat gli hanno fatto guadagnare un posto sia nella “Rock & Roll Hall of Fame” che nella “Songwriters Hall of Fame”.
La conversione e il nuovo percorso
Dopo un altro pericoloso incontro con il destino e un’esperienza di quasi annegamento nel 1975, la vita di Cat prese una svolta spirituale, si convertì all’Islam e cambiò il suo nome in Yusuf Islam. Abbandonata l’industria musicale, Yusuf/Cat Stevens dedicò la sua vita a Dio, alla famiglia e all’impegno umanitario, che gli valse numerosi prestigiosi premi internazionali, tra cui il “World Award” per “l’impegno umanitario a favore di bambini e vittime di guerra” e il “Man of Peace Award”, assegnato dai Premi Nobel per la Pace.
Con oltre 100 milioni di dischi venduti e miliardi di streaming, la voce soul e i testi poetici di Yusuf/Cat Stevens continuano a ispirare, intrecciandosi con una vita di attivismo e altruismo, educazione alla fede, coscienza ecologica e impegno umanitario.
