Si è spento all’età di 80 anni Jack Douglas. Nato a New York il 6 novembre 1945, dopo aver lavorato come autore di canzoni per la campagna senatoriale di Robert Kennedy, iniziò l’attività di tecnico del suono collaborando con numerosi artisti, fra quali John Lennon per l’album Imagine.
Successivamente iniziò la sua attività di produttore. Fra le sue collaborazioni si ricorda in particolare quella degli Aerosmith, band per la quale negli anni ’70 produsse dischi di grande successo come Get Your Wings, Toys in the Attic, Rocks e Draw the Line. Nel 1980 fu poi il produttore di Double Fantasy, l’ultimo disco in vita di John Lennon, album che ebbe un enorme successo in tutto il mondo.
Negli anni successivi ha continuato a lavorare come produttore e ingegnere del suono per gli Aerosmith e per molti altri artisti, tra i quali i Supertramp.
Da tempo malato, Jack Douglas si è spento ieri sera. Il decesso è stato confermato dalla famiglia. Uno dei primi a ricordarlo è stato Matt Laug, batterista molto conosciuto anche in Italia per la sua lunga collaborazione con Vasco Rossi, che su Facebook ha pubblicato questo post:
